Leading Design at Schiesser in Shanghai
In 2011, I joined Schiesser in Shanghai as Design Director for Ladies Lingerie & Loungewear. My role was to lead a talented team of designers, where we focused on elevating the brand's presence in China while staying true to its heritage of quality and craftsmanship. During my time at Schiesser, I worked to modernize the collections, infusing them with fresh ideas and innovative design elements while ensuring they remained commercially successful. It was an exciting period of growth and creativity, allowing me to bring a global perspective to a brand with deep roots in European tradition.
Adapting to Change
During my time at Schiesser in Shanghai, I adapted my designs to suit the unique tastes of Chinese women in lingerie and nightwear, which was vastly different from the Japanese preferences I had worked with over the previous 19 years. This challenge added to my skill set, enhancing my ability to tailor designs to diverse cultural markets while maintaining a balance of style and commercial appeal.
